                                         BANK ROBBERY IN EAST HADDAM
                                              ** UPDATE with PHOTOS **
   On Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at approximately 2:08 p.m., a bank robbery was reported to the State Police at the Liberty Bank located at 29 W.F. Palmer Road (just off of Route 149) in East Haddam, CT.
   State Troopers responded to the area and secured the bank and area around the bank as a crime scene. State Troopers are in the area looking for what was reported to be the sole suspect of this incident.
   The suspect was described by witnesses a possibly:
  • a white male,
  • approximately 18 or 19 years old,
  • 5'6" to 5'8" in height
  • wearing dark clothing black pants with white stripe, black "hoody" type sweat shirt
  • wearing some type of mask or glasses, possibly a paintball mask 
  • carrying a small black duffle bag
   The suspect was reported to have been armed with a knife which was displayed during this robbery. There were no injuries at the scene of this bank robbery. The suspect was given an undetermined amount of money by bank employees before fleeing. the suspect was last seen on foot running behind the bank.
   An elementary school in close proximity of this bank robbery was temporarily placed in lock down as a precaution. State Troopers responded to that school to assist with securing of the school grounds and the dismissal of the students.
   State Police Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad responded to the scene and will be conducting the investigation of this bank robbery.
