FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BANK ROBBERY IN BROOKLYN, CT
On Monday, March 17th, 2008, at approximately 10:57 a.m. a bank robbery was reported at the Saving Institute located at 9 Proulx Street in Brooklyn, CT.  State Troopers responded to the scene and searched the area for the suspect.
Initial information based on witness accounts reveal that a perpetrator entered the bank, approached a teller and handed the teller a note indicating that he was robbing the bank.
No weapon was displayed at the time of the bank robbery. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank.
The suspect fled the bank on foot in an unknown direction and there was no vehicle information associated with this robbery.
The suspect is described as follows:
  • white male, possibly in his late 20's or early 30's
  • approximately 5'6"
  • black hair
  • wearing glasses
  • some facial hair, possibly a goatee
  • wearing plaid shirt/jacket and blue jeans

State Police Major Crime Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crimes Squad were summoned to the scene to assume this bank robbery investigation. Based on the information gathered early in this investigation, State Police Detectives believe that the suspect may be the same suspect from a bank robbery in Groton Town on March 5, 2008. This is based on the similarties in both descriptions of the suspect and the methods of the suspect. During the course of the robbery in Groton, a possible suspect vehicle (a Ford sedan, colored light tan or cream with black rim wheels) was established. This vehicle may or may not be associated with the robbery in Brooklyn. State Police Detectives are working with the Groton Town Police comparing the robberies and information to establish investigative leads.
Anyone with information in regards to these robberies, such as the identity of the suspect or the possible suspect vehicle, is asked to call the State Police at Troop D in Danielson at (860) 779-4900. ###end###
