STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE EVADING

SERIOUS INJURY ACCIDENT I-95, STAMFORD

   Connecticut State Police Troop-G, Stamford EMS, and Stamford Fire Service responded to a crash that was reported on Thursday 8/16/07 at approximately 1:00 p.m. on I-95 southbound exit #9 in Stamford.  

   A Toyota Previa (mini-van) was traveling in the right lane of three when a second vehicle hit the Toyota from behind causing the driver of the Toyota to lose control and strike the concrete median divider before coming to rest by the exit # 9 exit ramp.

   Three occupants of the 1992 Toyota Previa involved in the crash (one adult and two children) were seriously injured. The adult and two children were transported to Stamford Hospital. The children were taken via Life star to Yale New Haven Pediatric Hospital.

   The evading vehicle is described as a possible green SUV type vehicle bearing Connecticut Registration plates.  Evidence was recovered at the scene by State Police accident investigators.  State Police have also identified some witnesses who were able to provide some information regarding this accident.

   State Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area or the accident and saw any portion of this crash or anyone who knows the identity of the evading vehicle or operator to call State Police at (203) 696-2500.  All calls will be kept confidential.
