STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY IN CHAPLIN

On November 7, 2007, at approximately 4:18 AM, Troop D received a 911 call from the clerk at the EZ Mart Gas Station, 7 Willimantic Road, in Chaplin reporting that the store was just robbed.

State Troopers responded to the scene and learned that two male suspects entered the store at about 4:10 a.m. The suspects were disguised with masks over their faces and armed with a handgun. The subjects physically assaulted the clerk on duty and then brought her to the cash register demanding the money. The subjects took money and other items from the store and then left when a customer pulled up to the gas pumps. The suspects are believed to have fled on foot to an awaiting vehicle waiting near the Bac Door Pub.

The first suspect is described as a male in his 20’s, approximately 5’ tall, thin build wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt, mask over his face and armed with a handgun. The second suspect is described as a white male in his 20’s, approximately 5’6” tall, thin build, wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt or jacket and a bandana over his face.

The vehicle was seen fleeing from the area after the robbery and is described as a dark colored four-door vehicle with a sunroof.

The store clerk on duty at the time of the robbery received minor injuries but was not hospitalized.

State Police Detectives are asking for anyone who was traveling in the area of the EZ Mart or was at the EZ Mart between 3:30 a.m. and 4:20 a.m. on November 7, 2007, to please contact them at (860) 779-4900.
