SIMSBURY MAN ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED ROBBERY AND BURGLARY

   On 4-17-07 members of the Central District Major Crime Squad investigated an attempted robbery at the Country Market Store, located at 315 Saybrook Road, in Haddam.  The investigation revealed that two individuals had entered the market, armed with a machete and baseball bat, and demanded money from employees.   Both of the suspects subsequently left the store without receiving any money.  

   Subsequent investigation lead Detectives to the accused, Alessandro Acosto, age 18, of 6 Munnisunk Drive, in Simsbury.  Further information by State Police Investigators revealed that Acosto also participated in a burglary of the same business on 4-13-07.   

   On 4-25-07 Acosto turned himself in to Troop F where, via arrest warrant, he was charged with the following crimes:

   Acosto was held on a $205,000 court set bond and was scheduled to appear at GA 9 in Middletown today.

   This case is active and further arrests are expected.
