                                 PRISONER ESCAPES COURTHOUSE LOCKUP

   Today, 10/31/07, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a prisoner being held at the New Haven Courthouse lockup was slated to be released from the lockup located at 121 Elm Street, New Haven. The accused in this case presented himself to Judicial Marshals, identifying himself as the person slated to be released.  The accused was released and upon discovery of the identity switch by the accused, Judical Marshals secured the lockup and immediately notified State Police.

   State Police Patrol Troopers and State Police Detectives responded to the scene and have initiated a criminal investigation into this escape from custody. 

    State Troopers, State Police Detectives, and all Local Police Departments in the area have all been advised of the inmate escape, his physical description, and a search of the greater New Haven area for this escaped prisoner.

ESCAPEE:    WILLIAMS, John W   III     DOB: 09/01/85

                 LKA 93 Ward Street

                 New Haven, Ct.

Suspect described as black male,  5’11”,  165 lbs,  brown eyes, black hair.  

An active search is underway for this escapee.
