On Monday, February 5, 2007, at approximately 4:49 a.m. a motor vehicle accident occurred on I91 northbound just south of exit 13 near the Wallingford-North Haven town lines. As a result of accident one of the two operators involved was killed and the other operator was seriously injured.

State Police Troopers responded to the accident scene and began an investigation which included the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Squad. The initial accident investigation revealed that a vehicle being operated by Israel Quintero was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I91 when it impacted into a northbound vehicle being driven by Alan Broome.  Broome was pronounced deceased at the scene and Quintero was transported to Yale-New haven Hospital with serious injuries.
