INTERRUPTS BANK ROBBERY

SUSPECT ARRESTED

Today 12/06/06 Trooper John Jette was on special robbery patrol in the Griswold area.  While patrolling the business area Trooper Jette observed a suspicious male subject in the area of the Putnam Savings Bank located on Rt. 164 in Griswold. Trooper Jette maintained a visual of the suspect and exited his patrol vehicle and approached the entrance of the Putnam Savings Bank.  The suspicious male had entered the bank and as Trooper Jette approached he was exiting the bank with a mask on his face.  Trooper Jette took the suspect into custody at gunpoint without incident.

Trooper Jette learned that this male suspect had entered the bank with a mask covering his face approached the tellers implied he had a weapon and demanded money. As he was exiting the bank Trooper Jette then took him into custody.

No one was injured during this bank robbery. The State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad responded to process the crime scene and interview witnesses.

Trooper Jette transported the accused to Troop-E where he was processed and held on a host of criminal charges,

The accused is being held on $1 million dollar bond Richelieu will be arraigned in Superior Court GA #21
