SUBJECT BEING SOUGHT FOR

THE SHOOTING OF GLASTONBURY POLICE OFFICER - APPREHENDED

As part of the continuing investigation of the shooting of the Glastonbury Police Officer during the early morning hours of 06/25/2006 a subject was taken into custody by the State Police and Hartford Police.

State Police Detectives working with the Glastonbury Police and several local police agencies were able to identify the subject and his whereabouts through investigative efforts throughout the day. Information was developed that led the police to an apartment building at 124 Wooster Street in Hartford. Just after 6 p.m. this evening the subject was located in an apartment at that address and he was taken into custody without incident.

Arrested: Candido Acosta CAMACHO  age 41   d.o.b. 06/10/1965

               no certain address, Hartford area

Charges: Criminal Att. /Murder, Assault 1st, Assault on Police Officer,

 Theft of Firearm, Criminal Use of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of Firearm,    

 Unlawful Discharge of Firearm, Reckless Endangerment, Use of Firearm in 

 Commission of Felony, Interfering with an Officer.

Bond: $1,000,000

Court: G.A. 12,  Manchester on 06/26/2006

The vehicle reported stolen in Glastonbury (Mercury Villager minivan) was recovered in the City of Hartford.

The investigation is continuing and additional information will be available at a later time.
