                   TWO ARRESTS MADE IN PUTNAM WAL-MART SHOOTING
   On November 17, 2006 shortly after 3:15 a.m., Connecticut State Police at Troop D received 911 calls reporting a shooting at the Wal-Mart Store at 625 School Street Putnam, Ct. Troopers and EMS responded to the scene. The initial investigation revealed that about 15 or 20 people were waiting in line for the Wal-Mart Store to open when they were confronted by two armed male suspects. The armed suspects demanded money from the waiting patrons. One of the male patrons confronted the armed suspect and was shot. Both suspects fled on foot. The victim that was shot was identified as Michael Penkala DOB: 02/16/1985 of 30 Ash Street Webster, Ma. Penkala was taken to Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, Ct. and later transferred to UMASS Medical Center in Worcester, Ma.
   Detectives from the Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad at Troop D conducted an extensive investigation into the incident. On November 27, 2006 arrest warrants were issued for two suspects regarding this investigation.
   On November 28, 2006, in the early morning hours, an extensive search was conducted in the Putnam Special Service District for a 17-year-old male suspect in this case. The search was conducted by Patrol Troopers, Major Crime Detectives, State Police K-9 and Bloodhound teams and the Putnam Police with negative results.
   On November 28, 2006 at 0348 hours, Detectives arrested WILLIAM ROBERTSON, DOB: 05/17/1986, of 1968 Rt. 198, Woodstock, Ct. on outstanding warrants for this crime. Robertson was charged with Criminal Attempt at Murder, Robbery 1St Degree, Assault 1St Degree, Threatening, Larceny 2nd Degree and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm. Robertson was processed at Troop D and held on $1,000,000 Cash Bond pending arraignment in Danielson Superior Court on November 28, 2006. 
   On November 28, 2006 at 1030 hours, Detective arrested ANDREW PATNAUDE, DOB: 12-16-1988, of 104-B Powhatten Street, Putnam. Patnaude was arrested in Putnam without incident.  He was charged with Criminal Attempt at Murder, Robbery 1St Degree, Assault 1St Degree, Threatening, Larceny 2nd Degree and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm. He was processed at Troop D and held on $1,000,000 Cash Bond pending arraignment in Danielson Superior Court on November 29, 2006.
