2ndARREST MADE IN MONTVILLE ROBBERY/KIDNAPPING CASE

         

On Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at approximately 1:49 a.m., Troopers from Troop E responded to a reported robbery in the area of 39 Fitch Hill Road in the Uncasville section of Montville.  During the course of the investigation it was determined that the victim, a 78-year-old man, had met a female suspect at the Mohegan Sun Casino and left the casino with her.  When they got to the parking garage a male suspect met them.  The two suspects agreed to drive the victim to his vehicle, however, they drove the victim off of the casino property and to a side road where the male pulled a weapon and demanded money from the victim.

The victim struggled with the male and during this time an undisclosed sum of money was taken from the victim’s person.  The victim was able to escape from the vehicle.  He was treated and released from Backus Hospital for minor injuries. 

Through the investigative efforts of State Police Major Crime Unit at Troop E and the New London Police Department the suspects were identified and arrest warrants were secured for the male and female suspects.

On 06/16/2006 the female suspect was located by the New London Police Department in New London. She was turned over to the State Police and charged pursuant to the arrest warrant. That subject was identified as:

Arrested: Candace L. Woodhall, age 44, 25 Wightman St. Apt A1, New London

Charges: Robbery 1st Degree, Kidnapping 1st Degree, Larceny 2nd Degree,

              Assault 3rd on Elderly Person, Assault 3rd, Threatening  

Woodhall was transported to Troop E where she was processed and held on a $75,000 court set bond. Woodhall was arraigned in court on 06/19/06.

The male suspect was identified as Terrence Baker, d.o.b. 04/03/1969 -age 37, of 199 Shaw St 2nd floor in New London.   The State Police had been seeking assistance from the public in locating this suspect. 

         On 06/21/2006, Baker surrendered himself at Troop E in Montville. He was held on bond and presented at G.A. 21 Superior Court in Norwich.  Baker was arrested on the following:

         Charges: Robbery 1st degree, Kidnapping 1st degree, 
                       Larceny 2nd degree, Assault 3rd degree on an elderly person, 
                       Assault 3rd degree, Threatening
