                         JUVENILE ESCAPES FROM MEDICAL FACILITY

Connecticut State Police are attempting to locate a 14 year old juvenile that has escaped from custody and is in need of medical attention.
At approximately 0400 hours on 07-16-06, Martez Banks, AKA: Tezzie or Tez, age 14, was a patient at the Yale New Haven Hospital being treated for an injury to his hand. During the transfer by a private ambulance company from the Pediatric Emergency Department to a second hospital department located at 148 Liberty Street, Martez Banks was able to flee from the outside of the facility.  An extensive search of the area by State and Local Police failed to locate him.
Martez Banks had been in the custody of the State of Connecticut Juvenile Detention Center on Whalley Avenue, but was hospitalized earlier this week.  .
Martez Banks is a light skinned male, 66 inches height, 130 pounds weight with brown hair and brown eyes.  He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue hospital pants and blue sneakers.  He may have a visible injury to his right hand.  He has a past history of criminal behavior in the City of New Haven and could be considered a threat to himself and the public.
Connecticut State Police is asking anyone who may now the whereabouts of BANKS to contact police.  The State Police investigation is continuing.
