Fire Investigation In Mansfield

On 10-25-2006 at approximately 1315 hrs there was a report of a structure fire at 973 Warrenville Rd. (Rte 89) in Mansfield CT. Upon arrival an unoccupied storage shed was engulfed in flames. Several other small brush fires were also located in the immediate vicinity. The Mansfield Fire Department responded to the scene to extinguish the fires.

In a collaborative effort with the Mansfield Fire Marshall, Detectives from the State Police Fire Marshall’s Office and the State Police Major Crime Squad are investigating, as it is the fourth structure fire in sixteen days.

During the course of this investigation State Police canines specially trained in the detection of accelerants were used in this investigation. State Police patrol canines were also called in to search the surrounding area for any other possible pieces of evidence.

Investigators are requesting that anyone who may have been traveling in the area at the time of this most recent fire, or has knowledge pertaining to the other fires, please contact the investigators at the below listed phone numbers. All calls will be kept in the strictest confidence.
