**UPDATE**

ARREST IN SUSPICIOUS FIRE AT MOHEGAN SUN CASINO

   During the evening of Wednesday June 21, 2006 (at approximately 9:30 p.m.) a fire was reported at the Mohegan Sun Casino. The Mohegan Tribal Fire Department and area fire departments responded and extinguished the fire. The fire was limited to the terrace of the pool area on the third floor of the casino.

   The Mohegan Tribal Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene and determined that the fire was suspicious; however, the exact cause and origin is unknown at this time.

   Detectives from the State Police Casino Unit have been assigned to investigate this incident and are working with the Mohegan Tribal Fire Marshal’s Office and the Mohegan Tribal Police Department.

   Suspects were observed on video surveillance recklessly starting the fire by throwing matches. The fire caused damage to the tile on the roof deck of the pool area. 

   With the assistance of the Mohegan Sun Surveillance Unit and Security Department and officers from the Montville Resident Trooper's Office, the suspects were identified.

   One of the suspects was arrested and taken into custody by Detectives from the State Police Casino Unit on June 22, 2006.

Arrested: Andrew LOGAN, age 18,  d.o.b. 12/20/1987  

             500 Kittemaug Rd., Uncasville, CT  

Charges: Criminal Mischief 3rd and Reckless Endangerment

Court: 07/06/2006,   G.A. 21, Norwich

Bond: $5000.00 n/s

   The case remains open and under investigation; additional arrests are anticipated.
