Armed Robbery in Montville Results in Arrests

On 3-1-06, at approximately 0050, Troop E received a report of an armed robbery at gunpoint that had occurred on Rt. 32 in the vicinity of Crow Hill in Montville.  Responding troopers determined that two female victims were walking on Rt. 32 and were approached by two men on foot.  One of the men pointed a handgun in their faces and both men demanded their money.  The victims gave the men their money and the suspects fled on foot.

While conducting the investigation interviews, Troop E received notification from Norwich Police that they had numerous reports of other armed robberies in which the suspect’s descriptions and MO matched the CSP investigation.  Norwich then received a third report of an armed robbery similar in nature.  Troopers from Troop E assisted Norwich with saturation patrols and Norwich Police located a vehicle occupied by the two suspects on Route 12 in Norwich.

The suspects were both positively identified by the victims as the perpetrators (both from the CSP investigation as well as the Norwich investigations).  Subsequent investigation led to the pistol involved in this incident being located on Route 12 in Norwich.  The suspects were placed under arrest by both CSP and Norwich PD.  Both were charged with the following: Robbery 1st, Larceny 2nd, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Use of a Firearm, Reckless Endangerment 1st.  Both were held on $50,000 bond (CSP) and held at Norwich PD (on Norwich set bond) pending arraignment at GA#21 on 3-1-06.   Neither of the victims were injured during this incident.
