             CONNECTICUT STATE POLICE LOCATE

                          BODY OF JOGGER

Connecticut State Police Troopers and Detectives continued to search for the missing Woodstock resident JUDITH NILAN who was last seen on 12/12/05 leaving her home for her daily run. 

Connecticut State Police Detectives followed up numerous leads, sightings, and information that were developed by investigators during this investigation. During the search evidence was located and recovered by Troopers on Red Head Hill Road in Woodstock.  This evidence provided Detectives with significant leads in this investigation.  Following these leads, at approximately 10:30 a.m. Connecticut State Police K-9 teams with permission of the property owners began a search of the private property located on Brick Yard Road near the state line. Shortly after 10:30 a.m. a CSP K-9 team located evidence and also the body of JUDITH NILAN. She was found in an out building on the property and was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police secured the crime scene.  The Connecticut State Police Major Crime Squad responded to initiate a criminal investigation into this incident.  The initial examination of the crime scene determined that the crime might have taken place on the state line or in the State of Massachusetts. 

Connecticut State Police are investigating leads and information that has identified a possible suspect in this case.

Connecticut State Police Major Crime Squad Detectives are presently working with the Massachusetts State Police to conduct the investigation into this incident.  The post mortem examination will be conducted to determine the manner and cause of death.

This case remains active.
