Incident Management Teams (IMT)

An All Hazards IMT is designed to provide personnel that are trained and organized to support emergency response and recovery efforts or planned event operations by providing the framework necessary to establish an incident/unified command under the National Incident Management System (NIMS). An IMT may be used for, among other things:

• Incidents that may overwhelm the ability of the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to adequately provide incident management due to the size, scope, duration, or complexity of an event;
• Incidents involving terrorism or other criminal activity;
• Incidents that pose unique tactical and/or incident management requirements; and
• Special and planned events that may require the coordination of multiple agencies and organizations, or pose unique or significant response challenges.
