Norwalk River Flood Control System

NRCS Rehabilitation Project

Department of Energy and Environmental Protection partners with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) to maintain seven flood control systems in the state of Connecticut.  The Norwalk River Watershed consists of two flood control dams including the Norwalk River Watershed Dam No. 2, also known as Great Swamp Dam, located in Ridgefield.  An assessment by NRCS of the Norwalk River Flood Control System revealed that Great Swamp Dam does not meet their current design criteria and standard and therefore, a rehabilitation plan is being developed.
