DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER PROTECTION LAUNCHES SAFE DRUG DISPOSAL CAMPAIGN
Friday, October 6th, 2017 – Today, the Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) released a video as a part of their larger campaign to promote safe drug disposal. The video will appear on DCP’s website, and be available on social media channels.
“Safe drug disposal is just one way that families in Connecticut can prevent opioid abuse, and we want as many families as possible to know how to do it right,” said Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull, “There’s a lot of progress we still need to make to keep our families safe, and we know we can only do it by working together. We look forward to continued collaboration with our sister state agencies, local government, the private sector, and community based organizations to keep up this fight.”
“We know that for many, opioid addiction starts with the misuse of prescription painkillers. One way to help prevent the misuse of prescription opioids is by safely disposing of unused or unwanted medications,” said Department of Mental Health Commissioner Miriam Delphin-Rittmon, “This video is a reminder of the importance of safely disposing of unwanted medications to keep these potentially dangerous medications out of the wrong hands.”
