Conn OSHA Fatality/Casualty Reporting

Revised recordkeeping rules went into effect January 1, 2015 for both the private and public sector. The rule expands the list of severe work-related injuries and illnesses that employers must report to OSHA. The revised rule retains the current requirement to report all fatalities within 8 hours and adds the requirement to reportall inpatient hospitalizations, amputations and loss of an eye within 24 hours. As of January 1, 2015, all employers must report:

  • Work-related fatalities – within 8 hours
  • Work-related inpatient hospitalizations – within 24 hours
  • Work-related Amputations – within 24 hours
  • Work-related Loss of an eye – within 24 hours
