GOV. MALLOY: SPECIAL ELECTION FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE IN EAST GRANBY, SUFFIELD AND WINDSOR TO BE HELD APRIL 11

(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a special election to fill a vacancy in the State House of Representatives serving the 61 st Assembly District, which covers all of East Granby and Suffield and a portion of Windsor, will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014.

The seat became vacant on February 21 following the passing of State Representative Elaine O'Brien.

Under state law, the Governor is required to issue a Writ of Special Election within ten days of a vacancy in the General Assembly, and a special election must be held 46 days after its issuance. The writs - one for each of the town clerks of East Granby, Suffield and Windsor - were signed by Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, who is serving as Acting Governor, and are being filed today.
