In order to practice social distancing and slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), public access to our building, 165 Capitol Avenue, will be restricted. Although in-person interactions will be limited, our office staff will be available via email as normal. For the Business Services Division email CRD@ct.gov and for the Legislative & Elections Administration Division email LEAD@ct.gov. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to return to normal business as soon as the immediate threat to public health has subsided.

Party Affiliation

  • Am I registered with a party? Use our voter registration lookup tool to check whether you are already registered with a party.
  • To register with a political party, complete a new Voter Registration and indicate your party choice in section 9.
  • To change your party registration, complete a new Voter Registration and indicate your new choice in section 9.
NOTE: A voter who changes from one party to another acquires party privileges 3 months after filing a voter registration application with the Registrar of Voters.

What is an unaffiliated voter? Unaffiliated is the term used to refer to voters who are not registered with a political party. This term is used instead of referring to these voters as independent to avoid confusion with the Independent Party, which is an established political party. If you write Independent in section 9 of your Voter Registration, you will be registered as a member of the Independent Party.
