Although in-person interactions will be limited, our office staff will be available via email as normal. RED, WHITE & BLUE SCHOOLS INITIATIVE

The Red, White & Blue Schools program is a civic engagement initiative led by Secretary Merrill and the State Department of Education. Launched in 2016, the program aims to promote the importance of civic involvement among Connecticut students of all ages. Connecticut schools that participate are encouraged to develop civics programs and classes that are innovative and informative. These civics programs follow a different yearly theme, which the Secretary’s office and the Department of Education choose. Schools submit documents, reports, lesson plans, and photographs to a committee composed of staff from both departments. Some schools receive awards for particularly outstanding or especially creative programs.
