Secondary Subjects: English, History/Social Studies, Mathematics, Business

English, 7-12 (#015)

Coursework Requirement:

  • A major in English or 30 semester hours of credit in English, including coursework in:
    • secondary developmental reading;
    • advanced composition beyond the college freshman level; and
    • English language including history and grammar of the language.

History and Social Studies, 7-12 (#026)

Coursework Requirement:

  • A major in history/social studies or 30 semester hours of credit in history and social studies, including:
    • A minimum of 12 credits in history, including coursework in each of the following areas:
      • a course in United States history;
      • a course in Western civilization or European history; and
      • a course in non-Western history.
    • Coursework in at least three of the following areas:
      • political science;
      • economics;
      • geography;
      • sociology;
      • anthropology; and
      • psychology.

Effective July 1, 2018, educators who hold a valid Initial, Provisional, or Professional Educator Certificate with a teaching endorsement may be eligible for an additional endorsement in math by obtaining a passing score on the appropriate Praxis II test. Additional coursework in the content area is no longer required.
