Collaboration for Effective Educator Development, Accountability, and Reform (CEEDAR) Grant

Overview

Funded by the Office of Special Education Programs, U.S. Department of Education

Since 2013, the CEEDAR Center at the University of Florida and the Department has collaborated with pilot higher education institutions, CCSU and SCSU, to analyze and reform teacher preparation curricula to ensure training in evidence-based practices in literacy (reading and writing), culturally responsive teaching and clinical experiences. When revised curricula are implemented, the pilot institutions must then measure impact of pre-service candidates.

The state goal for the CEEDAR Grant is as follows: develop/strengthen pre-service candidate curricula, training and clinical experiences to ensure opportunity to learn evidence-based practices (EBPs) in literacy including foundational literacy skills, argumentation in reading comprehension and writing in order to support student achievement of core learning standards.

Two Connecticut pilot institutions partnering with and receiving intensive technical assistance from the CEEDAR Center and the Department are CCSU and SCSU.
