Fraud Prevention Information

Latest Update - IRS releases warning on potential increase in scams targeting taxpayers around the April 18 tax deadline. Before and after the deadline, scammers may tempt or pressure taxpayers into revealing personal information. US-CERT and IRS recommend taxpayers prepare for heightened risk this tax season and remain vigilant year-round.

Department of Revenue Services (DRS) and the IRS are working with tax preparers to prevent fraud and identity theft. Preparers play a vital role protecting the taxpayers since they are the ones who sit down with each taxpayer, whether in person or electronically.

Security Anti-Fraud Initiative

Tax fraud and refund theft are very serious challenges. DRS is committed to protecting taxpayer identity information and making sure thieves do not steal your refunds.
