Important Information

Ownership Transfer in Absence of Title:

If you have misplaced your title and you are selling your vehicle to a Connecticut resident, you may:

Fill out Application for Replacement Certificate of Title (form H-6B).
Must also include an Original Connecticut DMV Supplemental Assignment of Ownership Form (Q1 form). This form is also available at your local DMV office.
Transfer of ownership will not be valid unless form Q1 Supplemental Assignment of Ownership is included.
If lienholder is listed on the title, lien release letter needs to be provided.

Who is eligible

The titled owner(s) of the vehicle(s)/vessel(s) may request a replacement title.

How to

Step 1: Gather what you'll need

Your first and last name exactly as it appears on your current driver's license or non-driver ID.
Your date of birth.
Your driver's license or non-driver ID number.
Your social security number (not required for owners with an out-of-state driver's license or Connecticut drive only license)
Your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and/or Hull Identification Number (HIN)
A credit or debit card.

Step 1: Gather what you'll need
