State Police Detectives Investigate Police-Involved Shooting in Mansfield


   Mansfield, CT (December 19, 2017): State Police detectives assigned to Western District Major Crime are assisting the State’s Attorney’s Office investigate a police-involved shooting
in Mansfield.

   On December 19, 2017 at approximately 7:30 p.m., troopers from Troop C-Mansfield responded to Storrs Road in Mansfield for a domestic disturbance involving a male with a firearm.

   Upon arrival, troopers began to approach the residence when the suspect fired at them. Troopers returned fire striking the suspect. The suspect was then detained and transported via
LifeStar to the hospital.

           No Troopers were shot, however one trooper sustained a minor injury.

At the request of the Hartford State’s Attorney Office, detectives from Western District Major Crime responded to the scene and have assumed the investigation.

   The troopers involved have been placed on administrative assignment pending the investigation. Additionally the Connecticut State Police Professional Standards Unit will conduct a separate
administrative investigation into this incident.
