State Police Detectives Investigate Norwich Officer-Involved Shooting

Norwich, CT. (October 25, 2017): Connecticut State Police Detectives from Eastern District Major Crime are investigating a officer-involved shooting that occurred in Norwich.

On October 24, 2017 at approximately 7:00 p.m., members of the Norwich Police Department were involved in a search for a suspect wanted on an active arrest warrant for the charges of attempted murder and home invasion.

During the search, an exchange of gunfire occurred between the suspect and Norwich Police officers following which the suspect fled on foot.  The suspect, identified as Brandon Uzialko 25 y/o, was located several hours later by members of the State Police Tactical Team in the area of 13 Prospect Street and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At the request of the State’s Attorney’s Office, Detectives from Eastern District Major Crime responded to the scene and have assumed the investigation.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will be conducting a post-mortem examination in order to determine cause and manner of death.  The name of the officer involved is being withheld at this time.  This incident remains under investigation.
