STATE POLICE ENFORCEMENT JULY 4th HOLIDAY

   Middletown, CT. (July 5, 2016): Troopers were busy patrolling the highways and roads in Connecticut over this 2016 July 4th holiday weekend. During this enforcement operation troopers utilized both traditional and non-traditional patrol cars.

   The enforcement project started at 12:01 a.m. on 7/01/16 and ran through 11:59 p.m. on 7/4/16. Troopers focused on aggressive/reckless drivers, distracted drivers, speeders, seatbelt violations and intoxicated drivers.  Sobriety checkpoints and targeted DUI patrols were also in place over the entire weekend.

   These stats cover the time period starting at 12:01a.m. on July 1, 2016 to 11:59 p.m. on July 4, 2016:

Summary

Total accidents:     315
with injury:             45                  

          fatal:                        2    (I-95 E. Haven on 7/2 and I-95 Westbrook on 7/3)        

DUI arrests:     39       

Speeding citations:    1,227   


Other hazardous moving violation tickets:   2,913



NOTE:   2015 stats (July 3 to July 5, 2015): 170  accidents;  48 with injury; 2 fatal; 33 DUI Arrests; 859 speeding tickets; 2,461 other hazardous moving violation tickets.
