STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN CHILD’S DEATH

   On Wednesday 11-23-11 at 11:30 p.m. the Windham County State’s Attorney Office contacted the Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad and requested that an investigation be conducted into the suspicious death of a 3-year-old female child that had been transported to Windham Memorial Hospital in cardiac arrest. 

   The female victim was identified as Athena Angeles, DOB 4-9-08, of 112 Hope Street, Willimantic. The victim, Angeles, resided at 112 Hope Street, Willimantic, with her mother, 2- year-old sister and the mother’s boyfriend,identified as Fredy Alexander Chingo Riz, DOB 12-10-87.

   State Police Detectives assisted by the State Police Windham Heights Task Force and the Willimantic Police conducted a criminal investigation into the child’s death. Several people were interviewed and Detectives processed several crime scenes.

   On 11-24-11 an autopsy was conducted on the victim by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The medical examiner concluded that the female victim died blunt abdominal and chest trauma and ruled the death as a homicide.

   As a result of the information learned from the criminal investigation an arrest warrant application was submitted to the Superior Court for the arrest of the accused.

   The arrest warrant was issued by the court for the arrest of the accused.

The accused was taken into custody by State Police on the charges listed.

   The accused, Chingo Riz, was processed and  held on a $1,000,000 bond and will be arraigned in Superior Court GA 11 on 11-25-11. 

ACCUSED:   Fredy Alexander Chingo Riz, DOB 12-10-87.
