                     STATE POLICE MAKE ARMED ROBBERY ARREST

   On 12-13-11, at 9:15 p.m., a 24 year old female clerk made an emergency call via 9-1-1 from the Ashford Spirit Shoppe located at Routes 44 & 74 in Ashford to report that she had just been robbed at knife point. Troopers responded to the store, secured the robbery scene and initiated a search for the suspect.

   Preliminary information determined that the clerk was exiting the store to deposit trash outside the business, when a lone male dressed in dark clothing rushed her at the door forcing her back inside the business while holding a knife to her throat.

   State Police Eastern District Major Crime Detectives responded to conduct the criminal investigation into this incident. Detectives developed leads and collected evidence and were able to develop a suspect in this robbery case.

   Troopers submitted an arrest warrant to Superior Court for the arrest of the suspect. The arrest warrant was granted out of G.A. 11 in Danielson.

   In the late evening hours on 12-29-11, State Police Detectives located the accused in Stafford.  He was taken into custody without incident. The accused was transported to Troop C.

ARRESTED: YOUNG, MARK A., DOB: 09-13-82

CHARGES: Robbery 1st degree
               
Larceny 3rd degree
               
Kidnapping 1st degree
               
Threatening 2nd degree.

   Young was processed by State Police at Troop C and held on a $100,000.00 cash bond.  He will be presented at G.A. 11 on 12-30-11 at 10:00 a.m. The investigation is continuing
