State Police Make Arrest In Murder For Hire Case

Today 01/20/11 the State Police Western District Major Crime Squad executed an arrest warrant on the accused in this investigation, Greg Lavoie (DOB 02/17/57).

The arrest was related to a murder for hire investigation originating in August 2010 at Garner Correctional Facility in Newtown. 

State Police Detectives developed information during the criminal investigation that the accused presently an inmate, attempted to solicit another inmate to kill his ex-girlfriend and her daughters. The ex girlfriend is a resident of West Hartford. 

Accused Lavoie is currently awaiting trial for five other domestic violence arrests including a burglary into ex girlfriend’s home which is being prosecuted by GA #14 in Hartford. Accused Lavoie is presently being held on a $750,000 bond regarding these GA #14 cases.

Today 1/20/11 Lavoie was processed at Danbury Court and was charged with Criminal Attempt at Burglary II in violation of 53-a49/53a-102 and Inciting Injury to Persons/Property in violation of 53a-179a. 

Lavoie was held on $25,000 bond for this criminal arrest.  He will be presented to GA #3 Danbury on 01/20/11.
