State Police Seize 300lbs Marijuana In Waterbury

On 12/21/10 State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force working with the DEA initiated a narcotics investigation into distribution of narcotics in the Waterbury area using commercial delivery services. Troopers developed information and were able to intercept a commercial delivery of marijuana that was destined to be delivered to a commercial establishment in Waterbury.

On 12/22/10 the Marijuana was delivered secreted in a shipment of auto body parts. The delivery was accepted by the accused ALAN SCHIAVO at UII Automotive Parts and Service in Waterbury. State Police Narcotics Detectives obtained a search & seizure warrant from Superior Court to search the shipment for the illegal narcotics.  The search warrant was issued by the court and State Police Narcotics Detectives executed the warrant at the business site and did locate and seize about 300lbs of marijuana packaged for wholesale delivery.  The estimated street value of this seizure was $800,000.

 

As a result of this criminal investigation the business owner, Alan Schiavo (DOB: 06/03/1961), of Dogwood Drive in Prospect, CT was taken into custody by Troopers and transported to Troop-A in Southbury where he was processed and released on $5000 bond.

The accused SCHIAVO was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana WITS, Possession of Marijuana within 1500 ft of a School Zone, and Possession of Marijuana WITS within 1500 ft of a School Zone. 

The accused will appear in GA #4 Waterbury on 01/19/11.  The investigation into this narcotics activity is continuing.
