STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING EAST LYME BANK ROBBERY

     Today, 12/17/10, shortly after 11:00 a.m., State Police at Troop E in Montville and the East Lyme resident Trooper’s Office were notified that a robbery had just taken place at the Saving Institute located at 303 Flanders Road in East Lyme. 

     Troopers and East Lyme officers responded to the robbery scene. The scene was secured and a search for the suspect was initiated utilizing State Police manpower and k-9 teams.

     Preliminary information obtained by Troopers from witnesses reported that a white male entered the bank, implied he was armed, and passed a note to the teller demanding money.  The suspect fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.  There were no injuries.

     The suspect is described as a white male, mid-forties, 5’10”, 185 lbs., wearing a blue jacket with brown inner lining and a blue baseball-type cap with red trim.

     All surrounding police agencies were notified of the incident and a description of the suspect was issued.  The State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad responded to conduct the investigation into this robbery.
