State Police Capture Escaped Prisoner

On 11/02/2010 shortly after 3:40 p.m. the accused, Michelle Conklin-Chadwick, was being detained at the Superior Court House GA 10 New London, to be presented on narcotic related charges.  While at GA 10, the accused was handcuffed and shackled with leg irons and held in a secure holding room adjacent to one of the first floor court rooms.  The accused managed to manipulate a portion of the metal cage allowing her to escape to an unsecure area and fleeing the courthouse.

Troopers and State Police Detectives responded to the scene.  An extensive search of the area was initiated with troopers checking and searching her last known whereabouts in the area of the East Lyme and Montville town lines.

Troopers from Troop E, Troop K (Canine), and East Lyme Resident Troopers office, as well as officers from East Lyme and Montville scoured the area further.

At approximately 7:18 p.m., a State Police Sgt. observed the accused attempting to hide in a wooded area by trying to conceal herself beneath fallen foliage. Conklin-Chadwick was apprehended by the Sgt. and taken into custody without further incident.
