**UPDATE**

PEDESTRIAN FATALITY MARCH 10, 2009 Rt. 8 Trumbull, Ct. 

     After extensive investigation and with the media coverage of the car vs pedestrian evading fatal accident on Rt. 8 in the town of Trumbull, Connecticut, the Connecticut State Police received a tip just before 10:00p.m. on March 11, 2009.

     The information provided to State Police resulted in Connecticut State Troopers responding to a residence in Bridgeport and recovered the red vehicle involved in this crash. The vehicle was located at a residence on Main Street in  Bridgeport.   Investigating State Troopers were able to identify the person who was operating the vehicle at the time of the fatal crash. 

     Connecticut State Troopers and State Police Major Crime Squad Detectives developed and followed several leads in this case. Connecticut State Police received   assistance from the New York / New Jersey Port Authority Police. The person identified as the operator of the evading vehicle was located and apprehended as he attempted to board an airplane at J.F.K. International Airport destined for El Salvador at 0900 hours this morning. 

     The vehicle that was seized by State Police in Bridgeport will be processed by the Western District Major crime Squad. State Police Troopers at Troop G Bridgeport will submit arrest warrant application for the accused to the Bridgeport States Attorney’s Office for the arrest of the accused.

 

     This case remains under investigation. The victim’s family has been made aware of the progress of this investigation.
