TROOPERS RESCUE FAMILY FROM BURNING HOUSE

During the early morning hours of Friday, December 18, three Connecticut State Troopers responded to an alarm at a local school in Tolland and ended up saving a family from a nearby neighborhood.

At 1:19 a.m. today, after responding to the alarm at Tolland Middle School, the Troopers observed smoke coming from a nearby neighborhood.  Trooper First Class Eric Basak, Trooper Scott McCarthy and Trooper John Barrrows responded to the source of the smoke.  Upon their arrival, they saw flames coming from the rear roof of a home at 53 Farmbrook Road in Tolland.

Trooper Basak requested the fire department, and proceeded to wake the family.  Troopers Basak, McCarthy and Barrrows aided in the evacuation of the family from their home.  Trooper McCarthy carried two small boys from the home and placed them in his cruiser, while Trooper Barrows and Trooper First Class Basak assisted the two adults to safety.

Tolland Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the fire without further incident.
