STATE POLICE STORM ACTIVITY

Today 12/31/09 during the snow storm which started in western Connecticut approximately 10:00 a.m. State Police responded to the following incidents:

377 calls for service which included spin outs, stuck in snow, disabled vehicles etc.

Troopers investigated 175 crashes which resulted in 11 injuries.

During the storm roads were slippery and many accidents that took place were as a result of excessive speed by the driver.

Motorists are reminded to exercise caution while traveling this New Years Eve as there is concern that roads will again become slippery as any melting is expected to re-freeze.
