                   STATE POLICE NARCOTICS TASK FORCE

                              MAKES ARRESTS IN WATERBURY

   The Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force conducted an extensive narcotics investigation into narcotics distribution in the greater Waterbury Area. As a result of this criminal investigation, Detectives gathered facts and information that enabled them to obtain a search and seizure warrant fromSuperior Court to search a private residence located at 86 Alder Street, 1st floor, in Waterbury.

   On 02/20/09, the search warrant was executed by State Police SNTF Detectives, who were assisted by Waterbury Police Narcotics Detectives. Detectives located and seized cocaine, heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana, and more than $2,800 in cash from the residence.

Two accused present were taken into custody at the search scene. Both were transported to State Police Troop A in Southbury where they were formally charged and processed.


ACCUSED #1:  LOPEZ, Steven  DOB:9/3/80

                    86 Alder St.,  Waterbury, CT.

CHARGES: Possession of narcotics, possession of  narcotics with intent to sell,  possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of school, possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school.  This accused was held on $1,000,000 bond to appear GA #4 inWaterbury, today 02/23/09.


ACCUSED #2:  MATUS, Camilo  DOB: 6/29/83

                    2486 Bucks Hill Rd, Waterbury,CT

CHARGES: Possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of  marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school.  This accused was processed and released on $50,000 bond to appear GA #4 in Waterbury on 3/4/09.

   This investigation is continuing and additional arrests are anticipated.
