STATE POLICE MAKE HIGHWAY NARCOTICS ARREST

On September 4, 2009 at approximately 11:20 a.m., a Connecticut State Trooper was monitoring the flow of traffic on I-95 northbound in the area of exit 66.

Utilizing his assigned laser unit, the Trooper clocked a vehicle traveling at 80 mph in a 65 mph zone. The Trooper conducted a motor vehicle stop south of the exit 67 off-ramp.

The State Trooper detected what he believed to be the odor of un-burnt marijuana and requested that a canine team respond to the scene. The narcotics canine was deployed and alerted to an area of the vehicle that was searched, revealing a suitcase containing a seven-pound “brick” of marijuana wrapped in plastic.

State Troopers arrested Sean Gamboa-Vasquez, DOB 11-29-1972, of 98 Hempstead Street, New London.

   Gamboa-Vasquez was held on a $150,000.00 bond.
