STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN STUDENT THREATENING CASE

   On Friday, October 2, 2009, a criminal investigation was initiated by Connecticut State Police Troop E in Montville after a complaint was received of a student who made threats of intent to shoot/harm other students and people at Norwich Technical School or at other locations. The original information was received by a school official who reported it to State Police. The complainant stated that the juvenile was planning to harm others at the school.

   On Friday, October 2, 2009, the criminal investigation was immediately assigned to the School Resource State Trooper.  Shortly after the original complaint was received by State Police, the 15-year-old student was located. 

   Upon being located by State Troopers, the suspect was interviewed relative to the allegations. As a result of the investigation information obtained and the numerous items of evidence that were recovered, the suspect, a juvenile, was taken into custody and admitted directly to a medical facility where the juvenile was admitted for treatment.  

   An arrest warrant was prepared by the investigating Trooper and submitted to Juvenile Court for the arrest of the suspect.  The warrant was issued for the arrest of the accused. 

   Today, October 21, 2009, the suspect was discharged from the medical facility at 8:45 a.m. and the 15-year-old juvenile was immediately taken into custody by a State Police Trooper.

   The juvenile was processed at State Police Troop E in Montville and then transported to Juvenile Detention Center in New Haven.  The juvenile was arraigned at Juvenile Court in Waterford today 10/21/09.  He was charged with the following crimes: Manufacturing a bomb, 53-80a, Possession of sawed off shotgun 53a-211, Act of Terrorism, 53a-300, Threatening, 53a-62, Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree, 53a-64. No additional arrests are anticipated in this case.
