STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE EAST LYME BANK ROBBERY

Today 04/21/09 at approximately 10:30 a.m. State Police Troop-E received an active bank alarm from the Citizen Bank located on Chesterfield Road in East Lyme, Ct.

State Troopers and Officers from the East Lyme Resident Trooper’s Office responded to the Bank scene. It was determined that a lone male had entered the bank displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the teller. 

The male subject fled the scene on foot with an undetermined amount of cash. The area was secured by State Troopers and Town Officers. State Police K-9 teams responded to the scene and  conducted a search for the suspect. All surrounding police agencies were advised of the bank robbery and suspect description.

The suspect was described as a male 5’10”, medium build, wearing baseball cap and a stocking mask.    

The Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Squad responded to the bank robbery scene to conduct the criminal investigation into this robbery. They will be assisted by the East Lyme Resident State Trooper’s Office.

State Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything in or around the bank or recognizes the bank surveillance photo of the suspect to contact State Police at 860-848-6500. All call will be kept confidential.

The investigation is continuing.
