STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN MURDER FOR HIRE

   On 09/30/2008, the State Police Western District Major Crime Squad received a complaint regarding a threat that was made by the accused in this case who was serving a sentence for child molestation and was incarcerated at Cheshire Correction Institution.

   The accused attempted to solicit a person to murder the mother of his victim and also the prosecutor who handled his case. Information was uncovered by Detectives where the accused offered $30,000 for the murder of the prosecutor.  The potential victims were made aware of this threat.  Measures were taken to ensure their safety.

   Detectives from the State Police Western District Major Crime Squad conducted the criminal investigation into this matter. They were assisted by Department of Corrections and Trumbull Police.  State Police Detectives conducted several interviews and gathered physical evidence which resulted in an arrest warrant application being submitted to Superior Court for the arrest of the accused.

   On 10/07/2008, Carbone was released from Cheshire Correctional Center and was immediately taken into custody at Cheshire CI by State Police Detectives. The accused was transported to State Police Troop G where he was formally charged and processed. Accused Carbone was held on a $500,000 court set bond and was arraigned on 10/08/2008 at Meriden Superior Court.
