STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY IN ELLINGTON

On 12/18/08, at 8:29 p.m., State Police Troop C was notified of an armed robbery that had just taken place outside of the Gold & Diamond Exchange Jewelry Store located on West Road in Ellington, CT.  State Troopers responded to the robbery scene and discovered three victims who had been robbed at gunpoint as they exited the jewelry store. The three victims were duct-taped and put into a pickup truck located in the rear of the store.

These three victims were accosted by suspects described as three black males wearing dark puffy jackets, jeans, dark gloves and masks. A handgun was displayed and the three suspects took wallets, cash and personal property from the three victims.

Preliminary information obtained by State Police indicates that the suspects did not enter the jewelry store during this robbery incident. The items taken during this robbery were taken from these three customers. There were no injuries sustained during this robbery.

State Police Major Crime Detectives and State Police K-9 Teams responded to the scene to search for the suspects and to conduct the criminal investigation into this armed robbery. Detectives did process the scene and recovered evidence in this investigation. Detectives also determined that the three suspects fled the scene southbound on Route 83.

State Police Major Crime Detectives are continuing the investigation into this robbery. Anyone who may have seen anything in the area of this incident are asked to contact State Police at 1-800-318-7633. All calls will be kept confidential.
