                                             UPDATE 

                           POST MORTEM EXAMINATION COMPLETED

                                CHESHIRE MURDER/ARSON VICTIMS

The post mortem examination was completed by the Office of the Chief  State’s Medical Examiner.

Victim #1  Jennifer Hawke-Petit  DOB: 09/26/58  was positively identified. The cause of her death was determined to be asphyxia due to strangulation and the death was ruled a homicide.

Victim #2  Hayley Petit DOB: 10/15/89 was positively identified.  The cause of death was determined to be smoke inhalation and the death was ruled a homicide

Victim#3  Michaela Petit DOB: 11/17/95 was positively identified . The cause of death was determined to be smoke inhalation and the death was ruled a homicide.

State Police Major Crime Squad Detectives and Cheshire Police are continuing this homicide investigation.

Additional charges are pending.
