INVESTIGATE STABBING ON I-91 ENFIELD

      On 01/29/07 at approximately 8:25 p.m. Connecticut State Police Troop-H in Hartford received a 911 call reporting an accident with injury had just occurred on I-91 southbound near exit #48/Elm Street in Enfield.

      Connecticut State Troopers and Enfield EMS responded to the crash site. EMS personnel upon examination of the injured male determined that the male occupant of the car was injured as a result of apparent stab wounds. Emergency care was provided and the male subject was transported to Bay State Medical Center in Springfield MA. He is reported to be in serious condition.

      Responding Connecticut State Troopers secured the crime scene and vehicle and also interviewed the victim and witnesses at the scene.  It was determined that the victim was stabbed while traveling in his vehicle southbound on I-91. He reported that he was stabbed by a male and female who apparently ran from the area after the vehicle crashed on I-91 in Enfield.

      Springfield Police, Mass State Police, and Enfield Police were advised of the physical description of the two fleeing subjects. The male is described, as a white male wearing a black jacket and black hat and no information is yet available on the female subject who fled.

      Connecticut State Police K-9 Teams responded to the area to conduct a search for male and female suspects.  State Police major crime detectives responded to the scene to initiate a criminal investigation into this stabbing incident.  The southbound side of I-91 was reduced to one lane until approximately 12:30 a.m.

       **The victim is being identified as Terry Alexander age 46 of Springfield MA.

       The investigation into this stabbing incident is continuing.
