             SUSPECT ATTEMPTS TO FLEE NARCOTICS ARREST BY
             STATE
POLICE/NEW HAVEN NARCOTICS TASK FORCE

On October 30, 2007, at about 6:00 p.m., the State Police/New Haven Police Narcotics Enforcement Unit conducted an on-site arrest of a suspect at the intersection of Sherman Avenue and Gilbert Avenue in the city of New Haven. The accused was observed by undercover narcotics troopers/officers making a sale of crack cocaine.

State Police and New Haven Task Force Narcotics personnel attempted to take the suspect into custody. Troopers and Officers blocked the suspect’s vehicle with police cars to prevent his escape and the suspect’s car struck two police vehicles damaging both of them as he was attempting to flee. The suspect’s car came to a complete stop and he was taken into custody by troopers and officers without incident. There was no injury during this arrest.

           

   The accused was taken into custody by police.  Narcotics investigators located bags of crack cocaine (7.7 grams) packaged for sale.

CHARGES:  Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell within 1500’ of  a School, Possession With Intent to Sell, Assault on a Police Officer (7 counts) and Criminal Mischief 2nd.

   The accused was processed and held on $250,000 bond and will appear in Superior Court GA #23 New Haven on 10/31/07.
