                  STATE POLICE URBAN VIOLENCE TASK FORCE MAKES NUMEROUS
                           
            NARCOTICS ARRESTS IN NEW HAVEN

   The State Police Urban Violence Task Force, along with New Haven Officers, arrested a total of 8 individuals on July 17 in New Haven.  One individual was also wanted by Milford P.D. for failure to appear and one accused was arrested a second time after he was processed for the narcotics on his person.

   During the late night hours on 07/17/2007, the State Police New Haven Urban Violence Task Force Unit and New Haven Police conducted undercover narcotics surveillance that resulted in several onsight arrests. Undercover Troopers and New Haven Officers observed a male and a female purchase narcotics from a male on Truman Ave; all three subjects were arrested. The accused male seller was identified as Abriel Canty.  He was charged with sale and possession of narcotics.  The female, Jennifer Schneider, and the male, Jose Rodriguez, were arrested for possession of narcotics. Abriel Canty had a $50,000.00 bond set and Scneider and Rodiguez were given a WPTA. Canty will be arraigned at New Haven court on 07/18/07.

Rodriguez was turned over to Milford P.D. for a Failure to Appear.

   During the operation on 07/17/2007, detectives from the State Police New Haven Urban Violance Task Force and New Haven Officers made an on-site arrest. An undercover officer was approached by the accused to make a purchase of narcotics. Statewide personnel attempted to take the accused into custody. The accused fled but was taken into custody by police on First Ave. The accused was charged with interfering with police and possession of narcotics. Accused was held on $20,000.00 bond and will be arraigned at New Haven court on 07/18/07.

ARRESTED: Edwin Torres     DOB 07/05/66     205 Howard Ave, New Haven

Later in the evening on 07/17/2007, the Task Force made an on-site arrest after observing the accused making a hand-to-hand sale of narcotics to undercover police personnel. The accused DelGado was taken into custody and was found in possession of 106 glassine bags of heroin and cash. The accused was charged with narcotics charges and is a convicted felon. He was held on $250,000.00 bond and will be arraigned at New Haven court on 07/18/07.

   The task force also on 07/17/2007, the New Haven Initiative Unit and New Haven P.D. executed an on-site arrest. They observed the accused making a hand-to-hand sale to an undercover. During the hand-to-hand purchase, the accused was also observed going to a parked car on Washington & West Street. and brokering the narcotics transaction through another male. Britton was charged with sale of narcotics and conspiracy to sell narcotics. Ellis was charged with conspiracy to sell narcotics and interfering with police. Both were held on $20,000.00 bond and they will be arraigned at New Haven court on 07/18/07.

               Horriette Britton  DOB:  05/17/72       24 West Street New Haven

   In the final operation by Task Force Members during the evening on 07/17/07, members received information that a wanted person, Kelly Graham, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for two counts of sale of narcotics and two counts of sale of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school. The accused was in New Haven at a local bar. Task Force members arrested the accused on the warrant. The accused was processed and a bond for the warrant was set at $250,000.00.

   During the processing the accused was found to be in possession of cocaine, marijuana, drug packaging and cash.  A $150,000.00 bond was set for these additional charges of possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school. The accused will be arraigned for the warrant and these separate narcotics charges at the New Haven Superior Court on 07/18/07.
