                     STATE POLICE NEW HAVEN INITIATIVE YIELDS ARRESTS

   As part of the Connecticut State Police New Haven Initiative the following events took place over the past several days:

   On 05/08/2007, the New Haven Initiative Unit executed a search warrant concerning drug dealing within the City of New Haven at 1134 Quinnipiac Avenue  in New Haven. Upon executing the search warrant a small amount of marijuana was found in the Home. Jessica Jacobs DOB 05/02/84 was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and given a court date of 05/18/07 at New Haven Superior Court.

   On 05/10/2007, the New Haven Initiative Unit and The Gun Task Force executed several investigations in New Haven. Utilizing various methods narcotics investigations were conducted at each location. Suspects were arrested at each location.

Area of operation 217 Rossette Street

    Arrested:  Forley Arrington, DOB 04/20/90, 157 Lamberton St., New Haven

     Charges: Possession of Narcotics

              Possession of Narcotics within 1500’

              Sale of Narcotics

              Sale of Narcotics within 1500’

    Arrested:  Kerry Green, DOB 01/22/81, of 53 Burton St., New Haven

     Charges: Interfering

Area of operation Washington and West Avenue

    Arrested: James Field, DOB 04/14/60, 99 Elm St., New Haven

     Charges: Sale of Narcotics

                  Sale of Narcotics within 1500’

                  Misrepresentation of a narcotic substance

                  Field was also wanted by New Haven P.D. for outstanding motor vehicle violation.

    Arrested: Jermaine Alexander, DOB 02/05/1974, 1523 Chapel St.,New Haven

     Charges:  Sale of Narcotics

                   Sale of Narcotics within 1500’

                   Misrepresentation of a narcotic substance

   On 05/10/2007, the New Haven Initiative Unit, the State Police Gun Task Force and New Haven P.D. executed an investigation on the corner of Pine Street and Rowe Street in New Haven. Utilizing various methods narcotics investigations, the State Police New Haven Police stopped the suspect vehicle (a green Cadillac) on Aner Street in New Haven. SNTF Officers attempted to make an arrest and the suspect vehicle backed up striking a State Police Detective, knocking him to the ground. He suffered minor cuts to his elbow and knee. New Haven P.D. continued pursuit until the suspect vehicle struck a telephone pole in the area of 19 Emily Street. All suspects inside the vehicle ran on foot and were captured and placed under arrest. Seized from the scene were 10 small bags of crack cocaine, 15 small bags of marijuana and $102.00 in US currency.

                   Assault of a Police Officer

      Arrested: Anthony Williams, DOB 08/16/1962, 120 Hemingway, New Haven

      Charges:  Criminal Trespass 1st

                    Interfering with Police

      Arrested: Joslyn Hasty, DOB 01/17/1988, 428 Maple Ave, New Haven

      Charges:   Conspiracy to sell narcotics

                     Conspiracy to sell narcotics within 1500’ of a school

   On 05/10/2007, the New Haven Gun Task Force Initiative Unit, along with the New Haven Initiative Task Force and New Haven P.D., executed a search warrant at 259 New Hall Street concerning drug dealing within the City of New Haven.  Found at the scene was 117 grams of crack cocaine, 30 grams of marijuana, 3 assorted pills, 1 bullet proof vest and $209.00 in cash.

The following 8 people were arrested at the scene;

1)      Ryshawn Lamont Brock, DOB 03/13/1987

2)      Lavon Dorray Lewis, DOB 12/02/78

3)      Eric Larry Scott, DOB 02/04/1978

4)      Clayton Kurt Carney, DOB 09/15/76

5)      Gahiji Dingane Keen, DOB 12/21/1976

6)      Chanel little

7)      Tyrees Lama Cherry, DOB 07/05/85

8)      Eric Jamel Williams, DOB 10/05/72

   All the accused were charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1500’ of a school. At the time of this report, all suspects were to be arraigned at New Haven Superior Court on 05/11/07.

   The State Police is continuing to work with the New Haven Police Department in the formation of these Task Forces, which have been aggressively addressing criminal issues in the City of New Haven.
